Kanya supporting local community
The Joshua Tree is a Cheshire based children's charity based in Northwich town centre. Their vision and aim is to provide support to families who are going through a traumatic time caring for a child suffering from a condition that seriously affects their immune system; commonly childhood cancers.
They aim to provide a purpose built Holiday House and Support Centre that will enable families to spend some quality time together away from the hospital routine.
Why did Kanya café Bar and Bistro choose to Support The Joshua Tree.
My wife Rachel and I moved to Northwich in August 2009 to serve the community as my wife was appointed as a Methodist minister in the Northwich and Winsford area.
I was inspired by my wife’s commitment and always wanted to be a helping hand for her. Her work in this area is primarily involved with supporting and encouraging families with young children. We are fortunate to be blessed with two children of our own. We understand how precious family time is, especially when the family is going through difficult times.
Since coming to Northwich I have supported various local charities, and when I heard about the work of The Joshua Tree it really resonated with me, focusing, as it does, on children. I feel passionate about the aims of The Joshua Tree. There is truly a great need to support families whose lives are overshadowed by cancer in their children. I have the opportunity, through my business, to raise awareness of this charity and to organise fund raising events. I now feel fully committed to their cause and intend to continue my support.
During the months to come I will be liaising with the local organisers to plan future fund raising events.
